2014 Jaguar XJ gets a host of interior upgrades

Just like on the Range Rover Evoque, JLR is rolling out a series of updates for the 2014 Jaguar XJ. There wasn’t much that was wrong with it in the first place, so changes have been kept to a minimum.

In fact, the 2014 model year enhancements focus almost solely on the rear cabin. A quick reaction to the new W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class’ ultra luxurious rear quarters, perhaps? It sure looks like it.

Most significant is the inclusion of airline-style individually reclining rear seats with three massage programmes (Wave/Rolling, Lumbar and Shoulder) and fold-out business tables on long-wheelbase models. Increased headroom and a revised rear suspension setup further enhance rear seat comfort.

On-board features have also been upgraded, with a new Rear Seat Entertainment option featuring two 10.2-inch high-resolution touchscreens and premium 26-speaker, 1300 W Meridian Reference Audio System with Conversation Assist. The latter uses microphones in the roof lining to transmit voices through the speakers, to be heard more clearly by other occupants.

Mechanically, all 2014 XJ models get the ZF eight-speed transmission (previously available on some engine variants) as standard, with an upgraded intelligent stop/start function Twin Solenoid Starter (TSS) as an option. Engine choices carry on unchanged.
