the furthest i've been is penang in a mini convoy of 3 cars with close friends. other than a breakfast at simpang renggam, it was a non stop drive (other than fuel stops) to Penang. It was about 6-7 hours. I think it'll be at least double this to Phuket. Not sure about the drive from Penang to phuket, whether alot of highways or normal roads, but for sure after Krabi, its very nice and broad highways to Phuket.
i think we need to get additional insurance to enter thailand. heard from some of the road trip organisers that our car insurance only for SG and Msia.
Brudder zenkinz, you will be amazed how hardy a Jag is...
I'm saying that in context of the diesel availability. we would need a diesel tanker to convoy with us
there are some jag bros that have been using msia diesel (BHP iirc) for quite some time le. so far no problem. BHP cos theirs supposedly has the least sulphur. think its 300/500 PPM compared to other msia diesel of >3000PPM.
And now I'm wondering if pricing of diesel in SG would increase?
its always on the increase bro.. lol... they never run out of excuses to raise it.. always playing this retarded game. up 4 cents, down 2 cents, up 3 cents, down 1.5 cents.. lol...
i make it a near ritual to go there annually, always around this period. (national day), except for last year when my wife was pregnant. Phuket has changed. there are ALOT of tourists even during this supposed low season, which like i said, i repeat annually. there are alot more china tourists too, so prepared to feel like its chinatown. lol.
i am game for a road trip if you guys are cool. :)
Need someone with richer experience for long distance driving to lead and plan.
yep. chinatown. they're everywhere. shopping centre (can hear them shouting all the time), the beaches, damn crowded.
i always do the same thing, go the same places, its VERY DIFFERENT experience now. last time can walk down kata beach, 5-10 pple around as far as the eye can see.. now? 100+ people in a span of 200m . faintz.
furthest i've been is penang in a 3 car convoy, close friends so we all know each other's driving behaviour.. . biggest convoy i had was a 10+ car convoy when we went melaka and that was a nightmare. lol. we took 4.5 hours to reach cos got kids with us and we were stopping for toilet break every 10-15min! OMG!!
IIRC, from kopi sessions, lawrence has experience with convoys.
