looking to replace my saab with new ride, probably in 4-6 months time. Jaguar 2.2tdi is currently in the top of my list, although I was earlier looking at bmw 5 and merc cla (not in market yet)
what's wearne's policy on modification? I know some dealers would void entire warranty just with simple mod. I am not looking for heavy mod, but I would definitely like to change my brake to BBK, and rims only if the BBK doesn't fit stock rim. Does anybody here change their brake to BBK?
also, what's the kind price negotiation I can expect with wearnes, are they sticky with price, or?? I know $189K was a promotion price, but $210K is abit hard to stomach at this point of time for me ... It's ok if you prefer to leave me PM.
maintenance wise, while I'm not expecting a toyota or honda type of servicing cost, since I've owned a saab where servicing is not cheap to begin with, but it'll still be good for me to understand the servicing option outside of the dealer workshop, and most importantly their workmanship, etc.
hopefully I can bite this "Fish and Chips" in near future, after trying out "Escargot" (Peugeot), "Sausage" (VW) and "Meatballs" (Saab) ... :)
I used to drive a Volvo before my Jag. SAAB and Volvo are "swedish" cars, maybe SAAB parts harder to find.
On mod tolerance, it is better to meet up, see and discuss. We have a reasonable group of young drivers in this forum, so you will see mods of kinds. So far no issue as far as I know. But again, you don't usually see heavy mods on a Jag.
Jaguar brakes are pretty effective. Not sure if BBK will be necessary. For myself, I have not seen a Jag with BBK here. It will be good to see one though!
Price can be sticky. The $189k promotion was swift and short. Heard it is no long available.
If you buy a car with warranty, it will have 3 years from the first buyer. After the warranty period, there are few workshops out there that can handle our car. Expect maybe half price of Wearnes. If repairs are major, then it may be wise to still let Wearnes handle.

I'd prefer to discuss mods in person rather than online (we never know who's reading)... :) but yes, I'd like a BBK on my 2.2 turbo diesel too but options seem non-existent locally...
For pricing, not much bargaining to do... The XF has been flying off the shelves for Wearnes so they don't budge much on it... My take is this: if you can't push the price down, try and build more value into what you're paying for...
Servicing is free for the 1st three years or 100k in mileage whichever comes first... You don't fork out a single cent when you bring the car in for routine maintenance... You don't pay for parts that need replacement during the warranty period as well... Having said that, the schedule for the diesel is every 24k mileage or 1 year whichever comes first... I ran mine for 12k already and I did a routine oil change and general maintenance at a workshop (not Wearnes) specialising in Jags for less than 300bucks... I'll continue to service the car at 12k intervals instead of the prescribed 24k... There are quite a few workshops out there that are familiar with the leaper...

I have read about stoptech articles when I was doing my research for my Saab's BBK.. in reality, the brake bias is not really a problem but has been an accident saver for me a couple of times. BBK is not just for track use, sometimes a 5-10m braking difference that decide the fate of accident or not.

reason why I need BBK, becasue it has saved me from a few close incidents .. nothing beats having few more pots to stop that extra 10-20cm :)
Hi bro, welcome to the club, and hopefully welcome to the meow meow family! Jags like most contis have pretty effective brakes liao IMO. AND as a bonus, jag XF (not sure about other models) come standard with SSBH liao. :)
the problem is, improperly sized BBKs/pistons WILL screw up your brake bias, and make you think its stopping better when its not. e.g. if its overly forward bias, you'll be thrown forward more often (tricking your mind & body into thinking its braking harder), it'll activate your ABS easier on firm braking (once again convincing you that the brakes are more effective than before). you'll gain several metres from using a good set of tyres, and several tens of metres by paying more attention on the road. even a properly sized BBK at most just allows your tyres to reach maximum traction a wee bit faster at best, which is much lesser than my above 2 mentioned points. reaction time is normally the killer, cos even at 60kmh, every sec the car is moving at 16m/s.
IMO, BBKs are more for track use, when you need larger calipers and pistons to dissipate heat. a brake is just that. a heat sink that converts kinetic energy to heat energy, and a BBK is a larger reservoir and dissipator of heat.
I am driving the 3.0D XFS. I find that the stock brakes are very effective, and needs to get used to. Not sure if the 2.2D XF is using the same brakes though.
