Thinking of doing some charity work for our jag club, any of you here have the experience to organize? and suggestion on the kind of activities?

eg, bring orphan/aspm for excursion to zoo/birdpark? Year end gift for orphanage/old folks home?

appreciate your inputs.....

thanks in advance.

Have done some charity work before during my time, importantly, first form a core group of people and we can brainstorm.

1. HR/Liaison
2. Operations
3. Logistics
4. Programmer
5. Secretary
6. Treasurer (if need be)
7. Chairman
8. Hands and Legs for the rest

Find these main committee members first, then the hands and legs can form the sub-comm

Set the objective, have a few proposals to discuss and present to the Homes/Organisations. They might have their own concerns.

Set a date, make sure our side and the Organisations are available. Make sure we talk to the Venue guys as well (e.g. Zoo, etc)

Who's for it???

1. Amac
2. Silencer162

i have no experience organising specific activities, but in my previous club, we took part in the boy's brigade charity drive, in which we would collect goodie bags from their HQ, and distribute according to a list they give to us, to specific addresses.

what we would do is firm a date, then a list of interested people, and gather at that date/time, convoy to the "pickup point" , pickup the stuff and disseminate to the needy folks.
the goodie bags are not light.. 2 bags around 15-18kg. there's rice, milo, canned food, instant noodles, etc
If i recall, each car could load 20-30 bags. the location would generally be around the same area. they won't make you run around like a monkey. the problem is when some folks are not at home, then you have to go down the list, which may be in a different location, but still not very far off.

I mainly do charity work overseas for orphanage, to provide free dentistry to the children.

In Singapore you can join various groups that help to deliver food on Sunday morning to those in need.

Hi Guys,

I have previously run social work programs and currently run a program that delivers fresh fruits to old age homes, hospices and orphanages in Singapore. It is a 1 month pilot project starting in July that is supporting the daily fresh fruit needs for 1,500 elderly and their care staff in Singapore.

We were thinking of creating an opportunity for a car club to perform one of these fresh fruit delivery runs, perhaps culminating in a nice get-together at Wearnes, if they can support us.

What do you guys think?

My other bros do this on an annual basis. The next one is on 21st July. We will all buy the items on a list given to us then meet on the actual day itself to pack them into individual bags. After which, we deliver the bags to the households. Will share more on Friday.

If you are interested Amac, bring your cheque book along at next makan or gtg...
