Hi guys. The recirculation mode seems to reset itself everytime I start my car. I tried pressing it and hold. A message "something something latched" came on. Ok fair enough. Then when I restart the car again, the bugger reset itself again ie vent open this allowing outside air into the cabin. Google search and checking out the manual yields no solution... Any gurus out there ?
well you've bought a car which believes in its tech's superior abilities.
the recirc flap/fan open close is suppose to be left to the all mighty car's sensor to monitor air quality/temp etc etc and decide which is a better mix.
why? well the logic is that is ambient air is cool and clean (primitive particle sensor but no smell sensor) it will reduce a/c load and open recirc and mix... thus help efficiency and fuel consumption.
there is also a safety by product. research has also indicated in longer drives with multi occupants in car the O2/Co2 concentration becomes slightly unhealthy and may affect a driver's attentiveness.
its usually approx 2-3hrs for a full 4 pax sedan, thus by having an auto mode, you will constantly have a good mix of fresh air in the car

ok guys. thanks for the insight. the weird thing is, my audi do not have this issue. i can chose permanent recirculation.
singapore's weather is really hot and humid... in my previous ride, i can set the temp at 23 deg and very comfy with that. for this cat, i have to set it down to 21!

wow that's something new i learnt today! Thanks for sharing! However i still feel they should let us have the option of turning it off permanently instead of having to press each time. In city driving where we're commonly stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, more often than not, we'll need to turn on recirculation to prevent poisoning from the outside exhaust fumes, especially those heavy vehicles and taxis!
can you imagine the hero that drives the LWB XJ in india traffic... sure choke to death...lolx.. remeber its a particle sensor not a smell sensor..lolx
