Hi guys, just wanna check whether do you shut down your aircon & radio before you turn off your engine n vice versa? Will it add load to the starter or something if we don't? Thanks!
I guess it's the habit that you formed up when u do a task.. For me, I just like, to spend that few seconds, going through all the buttons, switching it on and off, before I shut down the engine/ on the engine... I never trust those electronic gadgets..
understand for VW previously, euro cars are more intelligent, the computer will control and signal the "start" per program so don't have to off radio and aircon.... (older technology, directly to power source ba....)
These days, with the advanced technology employed everywhere, there's hardly a need to do anything manually anymore... Unless one chooses to, like how samsung77 puts it, make it habitual... :)
By theories, the answer is, no. There is procedures of how engine starts, follow by radiator, belt running etc etc. I am not going into the mechanical details..maybe advanced technology can compensate all these steps.. For me, I like to do things step by step. Even after I shut down the vehicle, I take the habit to go through one round of the car, to make sure everything is ok before I move off.. Same that applies before I start my vehicle. Whilst in carpark, usually I will choose to park at one corner (passenger corner; and take the photo of the next car parking next to me). Quite weird, but that's me..

Wow..... Samsung77, that's a lot of effort by doing that. But I do park at 1 far corner no matter where I go, best is single lot. = P
My concern is as we start up the car, it seems like many things come alive such as the radio, aircon, ur Bluetooth connected, headlights etc; too many moving parts at the time makes me wonder whether we need to individually power it down or up. Have anyone consulted Wearnes SA or engineer on this before? Workshop outside are saying that the Jaguar Selector/gear shift is giving the jag owners problem. Is this true?

dun worry... car was designed to power up and shut down with all the bell and whistles running...
remember we must move away from traditional notions.. the new jags have 2 batteries.. 1 small and 1 big though both are packed together as 1 unit. during start stop the big one is the one powering all your stuff and the smaller one is for starting up the car when big one juice runs low... all invisible to us as its considered 1 unit monitor by the electronics logic.
When I'm washing car myself (rare), I press start/stop without footbrakes and then turn on music loud loud. There was once "Battery Low" message came out. I power up engine and no problem liao... I think nowadays our jags are high tech machines, no worries lah...
Just look at how the Eco mode is configured. After we park in Eco mode the car will shutdown when we remove the seat belt without switching off the Aircond and radio. So based on that factory configuration it is ok to just keep everything on. I leave it on all the time, only occasionally turning off the radio for some peace and quiet.

i used to be paranoid with all these, but came to learn that we should not be, buy a car to enjoy its features and automation, furthermore, if it fails within 3 years, go claim warranty, if it fails after 3 yr, then LL lor ... haha
i sit in a plane co_ckpit for a living and i can tell you these features are still the best start up sequence ever... until Starship Enterprise arrives to beat it.
and for those outsiders who call it a cheap thrill..i'd say.. 'until your car can do this, dun talk.. just keep dreaming'
ps. had to do underscore thing cos forum auto feature says ****pit is a bad word KNS.

I personally like to see all the bells and whistles come alive at just one touch of the ignition button
Yup yup. When you do it correctly, as you press the start/stop button, the gear knob should raise itself nicely into your palm and grip. All the "bells and whistles" all come alive.
