I thought local weather will be too hot for them and Husky. But look wise i prefer Husky over Malamute.
btw, any dog owners here would advise how you keep dog fur to minimal in the car, shirt of banning the dog whuch is not an option for me. I wasnt so particular in my current ride but now i have a new ride, it will be a different dtory...
Malamute is bigger in size compared to the husky. The former is more friendly while the latter has a very heightened sense of "kill". The important thing is to always bring them out for activities and it has to be physically intensive ones too as they are made for endurance and strength. Climate is an issue too but I've seen owners here keep both breeds very well.
i think our weather is too hot for these doggies... pls be kind to them and don't breed them here.. not in SG.. even aircon is too warm for them IMO.. these guys are designed for subzero temperatures.
From 3 months... till 3.5 yr. She left for doggie heaven liao... It is a very very sad chapter in my life. I am welling up as I type, sigh... Won't have another pet. Too hard to handle their departure.
BUT, I have superb memories of her. For me, its only Husky... the rest are just dogs.
They are a special special breed. Not toy, not guard just... individuals. Every characteristics is different and they have a mind of their own all the time.
Had to drop out of obedience class coz she simply refused to be trained like a dog. Frustrating but loved her stubborness. Like me...
If u want to buy/adopt one, feel free to speak to me. There are so many considerations you might wish to hear from a Husky lover first (pros and cons) before the major decision. A pet is for life. Literally "till death do us part".
agree about how dog (at least for mine too) is an individual with a mind of its own. Mine is stubborn like a mule, and while we did obedience class with him, we know that he's just pretending to be obedient in front of his teacher.
mike, your husky passed away at age of 3.5? that's young isn't it? Sorry to trigger back the sad memories again...

Not many people know you can tell Malamutes apart from a Husky by their eyes and face, apart from the size.
Mallies have only brown eyes (unless x-bred) while Huskies have brown or blue or split colors.
Huskies have ears atop and closer to each other, while Mallies have a broader face meaning ears are wider apart...
The rest of their features and built are similar...
Behaviour-wise, pretty much the same but Mallies are bigger boned hence used for long haul pulling jobs and has better endurance. Huskies are normally used for short hauls. (Short hauls in husky terminology mean kilometers) I ever jog (when I was fitter ) from Serangoon Gardens to Hougang Avenue 8 and back with my beloved.
All huskies are "Escape artists". Well documented and I know it first hand. As a pup, mine escaped countless of times from her fence / play pen / Kitchen area to my bewilderment...
