Jaguar's highly anticipated X-Type successor will likely be announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Citing "sources close to the company," Reuters is reporting Jaguar will unveil plans to offer an entry-level sedan and a new crossover. Both models are expected to ride on an aluminum-intensive platform and be launched in the second half of 2015. The models will reportedly be built at the Land Rover plant in Solihull, England.
Our spies have recently snapped photos of the entry-level sedan, which could be called the XS, and speculation suggests it will be offered with a variety of four- and six-cylinder engines. Nothing is official but possible candidates include:
A 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel with outputs of 163 HP (120 kW) and 200 HP (147 kW)
A 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 240 HP (177 kW)
A turbocharged 2.-0-liter petrol with 240 HP (176 kW)
2 liter Turbo? That wouldn't differentiate the new X-Type from the XFs... Even the specs suggested are the same.
I was more looking forward to a "baby Jag"... A 1.6 liter base model to compete the C Class or 3 Series would be more welcome!
The nose looks to be adopted from the current XJ... It is "flatter"... Wonder if the dimensions would be smaller than the current XF? Specs look exactly the same with the current XF line-up...
